Rev. Voris B. Servies, 75, of Jensen Beach, Fla., a Methodist minister for over 50 years, died Thursday afternoon in the Denton Nursing Home in Ft. Pierce, Fla., after a long illness. Born Oct. 30, 1882 near Crawfordsville, he was the son of John Anderson and Mary Katherine Peters Servies. He was married to Goldie Couger in Crawfordsville in 1905. Mrs. Servies died in 1953. A graduate of New Market High School, he attended Wabash College and the Bible Institute of Chicago. He served as minister of churches in Kirkpatrick, Lowell, Clarks Hill, Hobart, Goodland, Culver, Terre Haute, Kentland and New Richmond. He also served eight years as treasurer of the Northwestern Indiana Conference. He lived near Crawfordsville in 1949 and was a member of the Crawfordsville First Methodist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Howard McCormick of Jensen Beach, Fla.; a son, John W. Servies of Chatan, N. J.; five brothers, Rev. John R. and Harry Servies, both of Crawfordsville, Charles of Noblesville, Frank of Pittsboro and William Servies of Knoxville, Tenn.; five sisters, Mrs. Lillie Booker of Crawfordsville, Mrs. Frances High of Hot Springs, Ark., Mrs. Winefred Highel of Potomic Heights, Md., Mrs. Georgia Abernathy of Chicago and Mrs. Maury Buchan of Penrose, N. C.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p. m. at the First Methodist Church with Dr. Ralph W. Graham and Rev. Hugh E. McGlasson officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the Bright Funeral Home afternoon Sunday.
